Young people throw rocks at firefighters as they attend bonfire in Limerick

Gardaí are investigating the incident.

A FIRE APPLIANCE was damaged after a group of young people reportedly threw rocks at firefighters attending a bonfire in Limerick city yesterday evening.

A source from Limerick City Fire and Rescue told TheJournal.ie a window in the vehicle was smashed in the incident, which took place in the Fairview Crescent area at around 5pm yesterday.

No firefighters were injured, but the appliance was taken out of service to be repaired today.

Gardaí in Roxboro confirmed they are investigating an incident of criminal damage.
