There's a 60km oil spill in Limerick

Drivers have been asked to exercise caution in the area.

LIMERICK CITY AND County Council is advising motorists to exercise caution due to a 60 kilometre-long oil spill from Abbeyfeale in West Limerick to Limerick city.

Council crews and Limerick Fire and Rescue Service are working to deal with the incident.

The oil spill emanated from the back of a truck heading east from Abbeyfeale. The council initially said the truck was travelling west, but later updated this information.

It has not yet been able to locate the vehicle involved.
