Limerick shop employee tied up during attempted robbery

Two attackers were apparently disturbed before taking anything from the Vodafone store, and fled the scene on foot.

A VODAFONE shop employee was tied up by two men as they attempted to open the Limerick city store for business this morning.

The employee was restrained at around 9am today at the O’Connell Street premises. The two men fled the scene on foot after being disturbed and it does not appear that anything was taken in the attempted raid.

The shop employee is not thought to be injured.

Gardaí told TheJournal.ie this afternoon that no descriptions of the two attackers are currently available, but that CCTV footage will be viewed as part of the investigation.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the O’Connell Street area of Limerick city this morning between 8am and 9.30am to contact them on 061 212400 or via the Garda Confidential Line: 1800 666 111.
