Two police officers treated for smoke inhalation after arson attack

A 15-year-old boy is in custody after a flat in Lisburn caught fire.

A TEENAGE BOY is in custody after a suspected arson attack in Lisburn left two police officers needing medical treatment.

The 15-year-old was arrested after fire took hold of a flat in the town at around 11.30pm last night. Officers rushed into the blaze on Drumbeg Drive, helping those inside to safety.

Two officers were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.

The teenager was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, burglary and possession of an offensive weapon.

The PSNI are appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident or anyone with any information to contact CID at Lisburn Police Station on 0845 600 8000 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
