Arrest over shooting of teenage boy

The man is the third to be formally questioned in connection with the case.

A MAN IN his 20s is being questioned today over the shooting of a teenage boy in Crumlin last month.

He was arrested by investigating gardaí yesterday and is currently being held at Crumlin station under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

He is the third person arrested in relation to the 9 October shooting.

The 16-year-old boy was seriously injured in the incident and was taken to St. James’s Hospital with gun shot wounds to the head and back. He had been standing outside a house on the Lismore Road with two other males when a number of shots were fired from a passing vehicle.

It is understood that the victim was not the intended target. On the day of the shooting, Justice Minister Alan Shatter described the crime as “completely and totally unacceptable”. It came after a spate of shooting incidents in the preceding weeks.
