Live Top Gear shows in Norway cancelled

The shows were due to take place this week.

LIVE TOP GEAR shows planned for Norway this week have been cancelled in the wake of the Jeremy Clarkson ‘fracas’ controversy.

The four shows, which were pencilled in for Friday 27 and Saturday 28 March, would have seen Clarkson and colleagues Richard Hammond, James May and mystery racing driver The Stig taking to the stage at the Sømarka Arena.

They had previously appeared at Telenor Arena in Oslo.

The live show promised to “bring to life” Top Gear, with “breath-taking stunts, ridiculous challenges, some of the world’s most incredible cars” and “the usual calamitous mucking about”.

However, an announcement on the official website says that the shows have been cancelled, but will take place later this year.

The Guardian reports that at this point the other dates across Europe, which include a show in Belfast in May, will run as scheduled.

Fracas

Earlier this month, the BBC launched an investigation after Clarkson was involved in a ‘fracas’ with an Irish producer of Top Gear.

A petition with one million signatures calling for Clarkson’s reinstatement was delivered by a Stig-lookalike to the BBC last week.

Clarkson had claimed that the BBC sacked him. He has been suspended from the show.
