FOUR PEOPLE IN Clare have been charged today in connection with an investigation into illegal money lending.

The four people, two men aged 20 and 26 and two women aged 30 and 32 years, were arrested on 3 December 2013 along with seven other people. Gardaí had carried out raids on a number of premises in the Kilrush area early that morning.

Gardaí have said this investigation, which was ongoing for several months before any arrests were made, centres around complaints from various individuals and is focused on people suspected of being involved in unlicensed money lending.
