A NEW FEATURE that tells Snapchat users where their friends are has come in for some scrutiny over the last few weeks.

The update  sees looser privacy settings within the app, and allows users see the exact place their friends posted from.

But Snapchat isn’t the only app that uses location tracking – it’s a common feature on the majority of social media apps including Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and Twitter.

In fact, your phone can hold a repository of information on your movements.
