A LONDON MAN who raped a 17-year-old girl after she passed out at his house during a party has been jailed.
Wernher Brion, 59, of Bexley in London was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment and a further three years on licence after he was convicted of a charge of rape following a trial at the Old Bailey.
Brion, who was found guilty on 13 June, was sentenced today.
He was arrested after police were called by the victim’s father. She told officers that she had been raped.
The girl was taken to hospital and specialist officers from the Met’s Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command (SOECA) were assigned to investigate the case and support her.
After further enquiries, officers established the girl had been raped by a man she had met that night after going out with friends to a pub at Northumberland Heath.
At the pub they had been befriended by Wernher Brion; a regular at the pub who had bought them drinks and invited the group back to his house after closing time for a party.
Whilst at his address the victim began to feel unwell and was helped to a sofa in an unused room to allow her to sleep and recover.
A short while later, the defendant entered the room, used an armchair to barricade the door and then raped the girl.
Brion was quickly identified and he was arrested at his home address shortly after the complaint was made.
Detective Constable Aidan Kersley, of the Met Police’s Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command (SOECA), said:
“The defendant committed a predatory and ruthless attack on a defenceless young woman for his own sexual gratification.
“The sentence handed to Brion reflects the gravity of the offence and the impact it has had on the victim’s life.”
