The gun was hidden in the garden of the disused house in the Palace Crescent estate .

THREE CHILDREN OUT playing in a derelict house in Longford town yesterday evening found and discharged a firearm.

The gun was hidden in the garden of the disused house in the Palace Crescent estate on the outskirts of the town.

The children aged between eight and 10 manged to fire the gun, but no one was injured in the incident.

The weapon was seized by the gardaí at around 7.30pm and investigations are underway.
