95-year-old woman dies in Longford house fire

A post-mortem will be carried out at Midlands Regional Hospital.

A 95-YEAR-OLD WOMAN has died in a house fire in Longford.

Emergency services were alerted shortly after midnight last night to the fire at a house in Barry.

The town is located close to the county’s border with Westmeath.

It is understood  it took a number of hours to bring the fire under control.

The woman’s remains have been removed from the scene to Midlands Regional Hospital, where a post-mortem will be carried out.
