Teenager killed after car hits barrier

The 19-year-old was the only injury in the crash.

GARDAÍ IN LONGFORD are investigating a single vehicle road traffic collision that left a teenager dead.

The crash occurred at Lisbrack, Newtownforbes, County Longford in the early hours of this morning.

At approximately 2.15am, the male driver was killed when the car he was driving left the road and struck a barrier. The driver was pronounced dead at scene and taken to Mullingar General Hospital. The road was closed for a forensic collision examination and has now reopened.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have been on the road between 2am and 2.30am this morning, to contact them in Longford on 043 3350570, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
