A DAD-TO-BE WAS among four winners of a €2 million Lotto syndicate who picked up their winnings today in Dublin.

However, the syndicate didn’t rush to pick up their winnings.

The ticket was bought online by one of the lucky four, all work colleagues, at the start of April, but then went on holidays.

The ticket wasn’t checked until some time later.

“My first reaction when I checked the account was that it must be a mistake,” they said.

The remaining three were contacted – one of which didn’t pick up the phone as they assumed it was a work-related call.

The big news is now sinking in, and one of the four is particularly happy with the six-figure sum now resting in their bank account.

“I’m soon to become a dad,” he said, picking up his winnings in Dublin today.

“I was about to get a loan for an extension on the house and a new car.”

Tomorrow’s Lotto jackpot is worth an estimated €6 million.
