Two women killed after being knocked down crossing the road

The bodies of the two women were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

TWO WOMEN IN their 60s have been killed in a traffic collision in Louth.

The women were struck by a vehicle around 6.30pm at Hunterstown, south of Ardee. The women are believed to have been crossing the N2 to their car after stepping off a bus when the accident happened.

The bodies of the two women were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital where a post-mortem is scheduled for tomorrow. The driver of the car was uninjured.

The road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place. The road is expected to remain closed overnight.

Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses to contact Ardee Garda Station on 041-6871130, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
