Poll: Should "love locks" be allowed on bridges?

Harmless or harmful?

OVER THE WEEKEND, a fresh batch of “love locks” were removed from the Ha’penny Bridge in Dublin.

The practice is simple: a couple writes their name on a padlock and locks it to a bridge. However, Dublin City Council say that the locks cause damage to the bridge.

Last year, part of the famous Pont des Arts in Paris collapsed due to the weight of love locks adorning the railings.

But are they just a harmless expression of love? Or a crude act of vandalism?

We’re asking: Should “love locks” be allowed on bridges?

Poll Results:

No (4518)
There should be a designated bridge (2807)
Yes (1012)
I don't know (246)
