Luas services won't be back until tomorrow after storm damage to equipment at Red Cow

A technical room inside the depot was damaged by the storm.

THE LUAS TRAM system in Dublin will be down until tomorrow morning as a result of damage caused by Storm Ophelia.

The storm caused damage to the roof of the Red Cow depot in west Dublin yesterday.

A technical room inside the depot was damaged as a result.

Maintenance teams are working on site with external companies to assess the damage, spokesperson for Transdev Dervla Brophy told Morning Ireland.

However, the company has announced that there will be no services until tomorrow.

“Luas services will resume tomorrow morning at 5.30am.

“The section of roof damaged is over what is known as technical rooms.

“Within those rooms are Luas systems. Those systems, for example, assist with overhead power and the AVLS, which is the automatic vehicle location system.

“These are necessary to run the Luas operation.

“These rooms and systems are being assessed for damage and assessed in relation to possible repair.

“It is therefore not possible for Luas services to resume at this point.”

The majority of Bus Éireann services are running as normal this morning. Irish Rail is also (mostly) back up and running and Dublin Bus is operating as normal.

To be honest I was more disappointed with the news that google labs was being shut. I’ve got a lot of things set up on my gmail that were (and still are) because of labs.

Google aren’t allowed to report tomorrow’s news before it happens. there is nothing worse than reading a good news story before it happens. think how boring the lotto would be.
