PICS: Luas restored after earlier garda vehicle collision

The tram was not involved in the incident.

GARDAÍ AND EMERGENCY services dealt with a road traffic collision on Lower Abbey Street this afternoon, which saw the Luas Red Line was suspended for a spell as the vehicles involved were blocking the tracks in both directions.

One vehicle was overturned on the tracks just outside the Abbey Theatre and a marked garda car was also involved in the incident. The Luas was not involved.

Nobody was seriously injured in the crash. The occupants of the Honda CR-V were brought to the hospital with minor injuries.

Gardaí said they are treating the incident as a routine collision and the ombudsman will not be investigating. There was no pursuit at the time of the accident.
