Man left bloodied after "freak accident" at Luas stop

A marble caused safety glass to shatter.

A MAN WAS left with cuts after a pane of glass at a Luas stop shattered following a freak accident.

The man was standing at the Kylemore stop on the Luas Red Line at around 8am this morning when it is believed a marble was kicked up from the road, smashing the glass.

A spokesperson for TransDev, the company who operate the light rail service, told TheJournal.ie that the marble was found among the smashed glass and it is assumed it had been caused to come up off the road.

“One man was left with some cuts and was treated at the scene. Other people who had been in the area were able to walk away.”

The TransDev spokesperson said that Luas stops use safety glass, but with the way this one had shattered, small bits of glass has landed on commuters.

The incident is being investigated, but the man is not believed to have been seriously injured.
