Lucan is very excited about getting its own Avoca store

The company expects to create 50 new jobs in the area.

SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY Council has granted a planning exemption to allow the people of Lucan have their very own Avoca store.

The local authority says it will allow the proposed change of use of the former Foxhunter pub on the N4 to a local artisan food and craft shop.

The Irish company applied for the exemption, stating it would create at least 50 direct new jobs.

Managing director Simon Pratt says the new development will be similar to its Salt@Avoca offering in Monkstown.

There, patrons enjoy a large food market and café but no non-culinary items.

Avoca’s plan is to open the new location next March.

The development has been welcomed by local people and councillors.

Wishing the company “all the best”, Fine Gael’s William Lavelle said, ”Development of this vacant premises and site will be very welcome and an Avoca store will be a fantastic addition to Lucan, in terms of both profile and the employment boost.”

Delicious scones and notions salads for everyone!
