Luke Ming Flanagan contacts solicitors over RTÉ 2FM show

The TD said that an ‘appalling’ accusation was made on air this morning.

INDEPENDENT TD LUKE Ming Flanagan has said he has contacted solicitors about accusations he claims were made against him on RTE’s Ryan Tubridy Show on 2FM this morning.

The discussion on air is believed to have surrounded the issue of drugs.

Speaking to TheJournal.ie after he tweeted that an anonymous texter had made “appalling” accusations against him on the national broadcaster, he said that if the same allegations were made against “the late Mo Mowlam, or if the same was made against Richard Branson or even the president of Uruguay, they would all be equally as insulted”.

It was “a disgrace” that accusations be made against someone who has been “promoting exercise”, he added, referring to his recent #shrednomination video.

He said he never usually tunes into 2FM and thought it was the Ryan Tubridy Show that he was listening to, but said he soon realised that Rick O’Shea had taken over the show for the day.

Rick O’Shea is covering for the Late Late Show presenter this week. Flanagan said he had contacted the show shortly after the show aired.

When contacted by TheJournal.ie in relation to the matter, RTÉ said they had no comment to make but were aware of the TD’s complaint.
