Poll: Can you speak a foreign language?

Give it to us straight. Be honest.

FIANNA FÁIL THIS morning called for primary school children to be taught foreign languages from the age of three.

Ireland doesn’t have a great record when it comes to speaking foreign languages; we have the highest percentage of people who can’t speak a foreign language in the whole of Europe.

Most people do learn Irish in school, which is a second language, but it isn’t counted as a foreign language.

Over to you: Can you speak a foreign (i.e. one that isn’t English or Irish) language?

Poll Results:

Yes, a bit (4446)
No (4071)
Yes, fluently (2559)
