WHAT’S THE STORY? 

1. A man was shot dead outside a school in Ballymun, Dublin this morning. “A shooting outside a school in broad daylight is as brazen as it gets, and it’s just chance that we’re in the middle of an Easter break and no children were there to witness this horrific scene,” said one local councillor.

2. Thousands of people have descended on Dublin’s city centre to protest against the Government’s wind energy and pylons policy.

3. The GAA has told a cross-party committee in Leinster House that a “cultural yearning” of “increasing intensity” played a major role in the decision to grant Sky Sports broadcasting rights for both hurling and football matches.

“There are so many Irish people abroad…we must take them into consideration,” Director-General Paraic Duffy said.
