IT’S THE STRUGGLE we all go through every day – get up a little earlier and make lunch, or pick it up when you’re in work?
Each has compelling reasons – bringing your lunch to work saves a lot of money over the course of the year, but oh the convenience of running out and picking up a ready made lunch.
We’re curious what the breakdown is between people who are relatively (or really) organised and bring their lunch to work every or most days, and those who for whatever reason buy lunch.
If not having a clue what to make for your lunch is what’s holding you back, we’ve rounded up a couple of nice easy to make recipes for you to try.

Not your average chicken salad here – increase the colour, taste and nutritional value with the addition of some almonds and apricots.
You could of course have this just as a salad either. The choice is yours. So many options.

Make every lunch a celebration with this fiesta salad – ok, we know it won’t do that, but it’s bright, cheerful and most of all – nutritious. We would advise bringing the avocado to work and chopping it up there – saves it going brown.
And a tip – throw some tortilla chips on top – perfection.

If you’re bored of bread or sandwiches here’s a handy way to be able to still eat your lunch with one hand but get away from the traditional sandwich.
Of course you can put anything into a pita pocket, but this chicken caesar recipe seems pretty good to us.

I make it, but I tell ya by the end of the week ham and cheese sambos can go and eff off.
I feel ye Eoin. Eat like a king for two weeks and then ham sandwiches for the rest of the month and only one slice of ham to make the pack stretch the week!

There’s a lot of Journal polls last few days. Silly season in full flight I see. Most of the regulars must be off on hols.
They’re still around judging by the spelling and grammar.
Very often lower paid people waste a sizeable chunk of their net salary buying c4ap sandwiches.
Get it for free as a perk of the job.

No, the hospitality and tourism sector. The drawback is that while it’s technically our own time, we can’t leave the premises. Plus, when you’re provided with free food you’re not entitled to as much time for breaks as others would. PS, your comment did give me a chuckle!

Depends on the day but generally in the canteen as food is good and relatively cheap
MMMmmm nothing like a soggy warm sweaty sandwich for lunch. I find bringing my own lunch to work very depressing. I am lucky that I can afford to buy it every day. I don’t spend more than a fiver though.
