Lunchtime round-up: the tallies so far

The counting’s still going – but we bring you some of the results so far from across the country.

THE COUNTING IS continuing, but TheJournal.ie will bring you up to date on the results so far…

In Cork North Central, a four-seater, Jonathan O’Brien looks set to win Sinn Féin’s first seat in the constituency while Kathleen Lynch should hold her seat for Labour. Fine Gael will have one of their two candidates elected with Fianna Fáil TD Bill Kelleher fighting for the last seat.

In Donegal South West, Tánaiste Mary Coughlan looks to be in trouble with independent Thomas Pringle topping the poll so far. Sinn Féin’s Pearse Doherty looks set to hold his seat.

In Dublin South-East, a four-seater, 30 per cent of boxes from the inner city have been opened with Labour topping poll with 34 per cent, Fine Gael are on 23 per cent, Fianna Fáil have 11 per cent. Independents are also polling well.

In Dublin West, a four-seater, Labour’s Joan Burton and Fine Gael’s Leo Varadkar look set to be re-elected. Socialist MEP Joe Higgins is also looking good while Fianna Faíl’s Brian Lenihan may just hold on to his seat.

In Dún Laoghaire Labour leader Eamon Gilmore look set to top the poll, Sean Barrett should be elected for Fine Gael with Mary Mitchell-O’Connor also polling well for the party. People Before Profit candidate Richard Boyd Barret is polling well while Fianna Fáil’s Mary Hanfin and Chris Andrew were in single figures at the last tally.

In the three-seat Kerry South constituency, Independent Tom Fleming is enjoying a notable lead with 20.5 per cent. Michael Gleeson of the South Kerry Independent Alliance is coming in second, while independent candidate  Michael Healy-Rae holding third place.

In Mayo – a five-seat constituency -Fine Gael is in the lead with 64.4 per cent of votes, while Fianna Fáil is on 17.2 per cent and Sinn Féin is at 5.2 per cent.

In Wexford, with 50 per cent of the boxes tallied, it looks likely that Mick Wallace will exceed the quota with 14.51 per cent. Meanwhile Michael D’Arcy of Fine Gael has secured 20 per cent of the vote.

Meanwhile, in Laois-Offaly, things are rumoured not to be looking good for Fianna Fáil.
