Police find weapons stash with some items "ready to use"

Police said the items were in the “advanced stages of readiness”.

POLICE OFFICERS IN NORTHERN IRELAND have discovered a “significant” arms and munitions dump in Lurgan, County Armagh.

The PSNI investigating dissident republicanism found the stash of weapons following a two day search of an area close to the Dublin-Belfast railway line.

The weapons were found in a wooded area near a wooded house.

Police said the items were in the “advanced stages of readiness” with some “ready to use”.

Weapons found include three firearms, pipe bombs and a mortar explosive.

Superintendent Karen Baxter  Politicians said  ”It has all the hallmarks of violent dissident republican activity.”
