The indoor/outdoor space in this Cork city home is particularly envy-inducing.

EVERY ONCE IN a while, a home hits the market that gets people talking – and there’s no doubt that 1 Millfield in Cork city is one of these homes.

Only six years old, it’s clear from the outset that no expense was spared on the build.

Now on the market for €1,650,000, it sits on .3 of an acre on College Road in Cork city.

With a floor area of 307 m², this luxury five-bed blends the indoors and outdoors seamlessly for a cleverly laid out home with excellent flow and pristine finishes.

With ceilings that almost reach seven metres, the sense of space hits you as soon as you walk into the hallway. Full of natural light thanks to gable windows and a Velux, this definitely sets the tone for the rest of this bright house.

Well-zoned and spacious, the kitchen, dining space and lounge make up an impressive open plan space that’s separated by a glazed sliding door to the outdoor area in the form of a courtyard. Ideal for outdoor entertaining all year around, it was created against the orchard wall and has an electric canopy along with outdoor heaters.

The kitchen is a bespoke design with plenty of storage and a walk-in larder off it. The cooks in the family are sure to swoon over the appliances by Miele, Ghroe and Falmac, the large island, that measures over two metres in length, and the Silestone countertops.

A dining area divides the kitchen from one of the living room spaces that connects to a separate lounge at the front of the house.

It’s still an open space, however. Separated from the open plan by glazed double doors, it’s controlled by a remote adding even more high-end luxury.

The ground has underfloor heating throughout and the lounge has a stove, which is purely aesthetic however, given the home’s A2 rating.

Completing the ground floor is the large utility room that lives off the open plan space, along with another room that is currently a home office. It could easily be a sixth bedroom, however, seeing as it has its own access to a big bathroom off the hallway.

Five bedrooms share the floor above. All generous in size, two of these rooms have en suite bathrooms. The main bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe, down lights and pendant lights on either side of the bed, along with electric blinds.

The house sits behind electric gates and has an intercom system, which is handy for such a central location. And although the build is new, there are plenty of mature trees and plants dotted around the house, including an 85-year-old apple tree that harks back to the orchard that was once there.

For even more storage, there are two detached sheds on site, one of which is fully wired with double sockets and lighting.

For anyone looking to buy in Cork city, College Road will need little introduction. Close to the UCC campus and a short stroll from the city centre, there’s no doubt 1 Millfield will make many house hunters’ must-view lists – even if it’s just for a snoop.

1 Millfield, College Road, Cork City, Co Cork is on the market for €1,650,000 through Patricia Stokes.
