4 of a kind: Large and luxurious homes with pristine tennis courts

From a luxury mansion in Howth to a pristine period property in Enniskerry.

A HOME WITH a tennis court is sure to pique the interest of people who enjoy staying active with friends and family without needing to travel too far.

Whether you’re a tennis pro or just a fair-weather player, we’ve found four homes on the market right now that each have their own courts to enjoy.

Knocknacarra, Co Galway – €865,000

A detached architecturally designed family home, Leac Aimhreidh sits on an acre and includes a tennis court that looks over picturesque Galway Bay.  Although it was built in the ’80s, it enjoys a good energy rating to keep bills low and is finished and modernised to a high standard inside. The windows make the most of the views, and every room is a generous size as well as filled with natural light.

After a game of tennis, the new homeowners can relax on one of the two patio areas at this four-bed home that’s spread over 274 m². The property is on Ballymoneen Road, which has a great connection to Galway city with both primary and secondary schools close by, regular public transport, easy access to Salthill, Barna Woods, Silver Strand and an array of other amenities.

Howth, Dublin 13 – €4,500,000

With an address that sounds like a fairytale, Violet Hill on Fairy Hill Lane in Howth is a modern mansion that spans a whopping 415 m². Updated to high standards in 2012, this four-bed home sits on two acres and offers views of Dublin Bay.  The main social rooms comprise two living rooms and a large high-end kitchen that faces south and has Crittal-style glazing that opens out to a beautiful terrace. Two of the bedrooms also benefit from this light and view. From here, steps lead to the formal dining space. As well as the views outside, this luxury home has a pool, a tennis court and gym space.

Upstairs is where the remaining two bedrooms reside, with the master suite taking up the entire south east aspect of the home. The second bedroom has its own smart shower room and each of the two centre bedrooms enjoy access through French doors to a balcony with fabulous views. Howth may need little in the way of introduction – the busy, picturesque fishing village has everything a family needs and great links to Dublin city centre.

Enniskerry, Co Wicklow – €2,750,000

From Dublin’s north, we head down to Co Wicklow. Mervyn is a period property with sea views that’s just a short walk from Enniskerry village. Totally restored in 2004, the house was extended to take in and enjoy more of the surrounding gardens and paddocks. It has a range of buildings outside to suit horse lovers too – four stables, a boiler house and a tack room. There’s also a games room with a gym/home office that leads to the sunroom – all before we even mention the tennis court.

The main house comprises a dining room and drawing room that opens to the south facing terrace. The kitchen has French doors to the part-walled garden. The ground floor is also home to a utility room and two bedrooms, one of which is now a home office. Upstairs sit the remaining three bedrooms that are all en suite – the main bedroom has a cast iron fireplace and a large dressing area, too.

Foxrock, Dublin 18 – €2,500,000

Close to Foxrock village on Dublin’s south side, Rusheen is a five-bed 319 m² home that’s traditional in style. The ground floor comprises a welcoming hall, guest toilet, a family room and a dining room that sits beside the kitchen. From here is cedar wood conservatory that soaks up the sun. A wing that was added to the house later has a spacious inner hallway and two more reception rooms. There are two separate bedroom wings on the first floor. Each of the five bedrooms is a double with the main bedroom enjoying a dual aspect and an en suite bathroom.

This home sits on .62 acres and is home to a tennis court. The property is approached by electric gates that open on to a driveway with a double garage lots of parking. Just a walk away from Foxrock Village, the new owner of Rusheen is guaranteed that everything Dublin and Wicklow have to offer couldn’t be easier to get to.
