M1 Motorway fully reopens following fire

A lorry carrying bales of hay went alight near Junction 18 on Friday, causing the motorway to be closed in both directions.

THE M1 DUBLIN-BELFAST motorway has fully reopened following a fire breaking out near Dundalk last night.

A lorry carrying bales of hay went alight near Junction 18, near the Ballymascanlon roundabout, on Friday.

The motorway was closed off in both directions as fire brigades tried to deal with the blaze.

The M1 southbound between J16 Dundalk South and J14 Ardee will be closed until 3am Sun 9th Sept for works.
