Overturned vehicle blocking traffic on the M50

Dublin Fire Brigade is responding to the incident.

MOTORISTS ARE BEING advised to avoid the M50 at Carrickmines due to an overturned vehicle.

One lane is now opened at J15 Carrickmines but traffic is still very heavy.

Dublin Fire Brigade tweeted that it was responding to the incident just after 1pm.

AA Roadwatch also warned of delays.

Motorists heading to Leopardstown races should expect delays.

It comes after a truck that went on fire was also removed from the M50 after the Red Cow roundabout earlier today.

Passed by this, it was a Volvo XC 70 or 90 towing a Defender on a trailer, guessing approx 3 tons, I’d say the Volvo trailer nose weight was exceeded, and towing capacity, the defender was on its roof

If the Volvo driver was quick thinking he could have said the Land Rover rear ended his trailer & the driver has fled the scene. I’d be a lot happier towing the Volvo with a Defender anyway.

Awful crosswinds on that open section of road, i’m sure didn’t help today…

Though why the hell haven’t they converted the M50 to 3 lanes all the way to the M11?
It’s a crazy two laner with people doing about 80kph in lane one, and others doing 180kph in the outside lane and cutting in at the last second, all to get down to Sandyford/Dundrum centre…
