The man threatened staff at the shop in Carlow Facebook

Staff held at knifepoint during robbery at Mace shop in Carlow this morning

The incident happened in Bennekerry on the Hacketstown Road at 8am this morning.

GARDAÍ IN CARLOW are trying to trace a man who robbed a Mace shop at Bennekerry on the Hacketstown Road at 8am this morning.

Pictures from the CCTV camera show the man obscuring his face as he enters the shop.

A garda spokesperson said that the man produced a knife and threatened staff, demanding them to hand over money from the tills.

He is believed to left the scene with a sum of cash.

His face remains covered throughout, but the man wore a white jacket, black trousers and is believed to have fled the scene on foot in the direction of Carlow town.

No one was injured, and the scene was preserved for technical examination.

In a Facebook post, the shop owner said that the man had “traumatised his staff” in the process of the robbery.

The owner also urged anyone who may have seen anything or was in the area at the time to come forward with information.
