Major construction company goes into liquidation

The Cork-based company Bowen Construction has began operations in 1968 and employed approximately 70 people.

ONE OF THE largest construction companies in the country, Cork-based Bowen Construction, has gone into liquidation.

The company, which began operations in 1968, employed between 60 and 70 people and had offices in Cork, Dublin, Belfast, Limerick and Waterford. As well as direct employees, as number of subcontractors will be affected by the liquidation of the company, the Irish Examiner reports.

Bowen Construction’s well-known clients include Iarnród Éireann, RTÉ and Crumlin Children’s Hospital.

Construction Industry Federation said today that the decision was another “severe blow for the entire construction industry”, reports RTÉ.
