Male pedestrian killed after being hit by van

A man in his 60s sustained fatal injuries after being hit by a van in Co Limerick at around 5pm this afternoon.

A MALE PEDESTRIAN in his 60s has been killed after being hit by a van in Co Limerick.

The fatal collision occurred at around 5pm at Ballaugh, Abbeyfeale.

The male received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick.

The driver of the van was not injured.

The road, a minor one, is closed pending completion of an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators. Local traffic diversions are in place.
