Man, 33, charged over fatal Boyle house fire

The 33-year-old man arrested yesterday in connection with last week’s fatal house fire will appear in court tomorrow morning.

A MAN who was arrested in connection with last week’s fire at a house in Co Roscommon, in which a five-year-old girl was killed, is to appear in court in connection with the incident tomorrow.

The man, 33, was arrested by Gardaí in Boyle yesterday. He will appear in Ballinasloe District Court tomorrow morning at 10:30am.

A woman who was arrested this morning, aged in her 50s, remains in Garda custody at Boyle Garda Station under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.

Five-year-old Mari Connolly was killed in the fire, which was discovered at the house on Termon Road between 2:30am and 3am on Monday morning of last week.

Mari was buried following a funeral service in Boyle yesterday morning. Her two older sisters Lauren and Naomi, aged six and eight, survived the fire, along with their father Richard.

Her mother, who is pregnant, was in hospital and was not present in the house at the time of the fire.

    Any plan to electrify the line from Dublin to cork, Galway and limerick. Last time I checked it was the 21st Century. Not asking for high speed rail just linking our capital with the same power system as say the rest of Europe since after WW2

    hope no exam students were planning on using the train – but I suppose there is never a good time to close and upgrade lines
