Man, 39, dies in Galway road crash

The single-car collision occurred at about 1am this morning.

GARDAÍ IN GORT are investigating the circumstances of a single-car collision which claimed the life of the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.

The man, aged 39, was fatally injured after the car he was driving hit a sign post at Gortaloman in the Peterswell area of Galway. The incident occurred just before 1am today.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to University College Hospital, Galway.

The road remains closed for forensic examinations and Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to contact Gort Garda Station on 091 636 400.
