Man due in NI court for extradition over alleged Donegal rape

The 42-year-old will appear in court in Belfast on foot of a European arrest warrant over an alleged rape.

A 42-YEAR-OLD MAN is to appear in court in Belfast later today after being arrested in connection with alleged crimes in the Republic.

The man will appear at Belfast Recorders Court after being arrested in the Omagh area yesterday afternoon.

A PSNI spokesperson said the man was wanted for trial in the Republic, in connection with three offences of rape of a child under the age of 17.

The offences are alleged to have taken place in County Donegal, though it is not known when.

A European Arrest Warrant had been issued for the man’s arrest, leading to his apprehension yesterday.
