Man (90s) dies in hospital following two-vehicle collision in Mayo last month

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision to come forward.

A MAN IN his 90s has died in hospital following a two-vehicle collision in Mayo last month.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the fatal collision that occurred on the N5 Castlebar to Turlough Road on 29 December 2024 at approximately 4pm.

The collision involved a car and a van.

The man aged in his 90s was taken to Mayo University Hospital to be treated for serious injuries. He has since passed away. 

A second driver, a man aged in his 30s, was taken to the same hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

An examination of the scene was carried out the forensic investigators.

Any road users who may have witnesses this collision are asked to come forward.

Road users who were travelling on the N5 at the time of the incident and who may have camera and dash-cam footage are asked to make the video available to gardaí.
