Man and woman arrested after throwing suspect device

The two adults were arrested after the device was thrown from their car on the Killininny Road in Dublin last night.

GARDAÍ IN TALLAGHT arrested two people last night following a planned operation targeting criminal activity.

The man and woman – both in their 20s – were taken into custody after Gardaí intercepted their car on the Killininny Road in Dublin 24 at about 10.15pm.

An object, understood to be a pipebomb, was thrown from the vehicle as Gardaí attempted to stop the car.

The scene was sealed off and an army bomb disposal unit called. The device was made safe by 11.30pm and removed to Cathal Brugha Barracks for examination. It will also be tested by the Garda Technical Bureau.

The arrested man is detained at Crumlin and the woman at Sundrive Garda Stations.  Both are detained under Section 30 of The Offences Against The State Act 1939.
