A MAN HAS been arrested after Revenue officers seized herbal cannabis worth €1.1 million at Dublin Port.

The drugs were discovered yesterday as a result of risk profiling and with the assistance of detector dog James, when officers stopped a van that had arrived on a ferry from the UK.

Upon searching the van, officers found 55.3kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €1,106,000. The drugs were concealed in vacuum-packed packages in a consignment of bottled water and garden furniture.

Gardaí from the Dublin Metropolitan Region North Central Divisional Drugs Unit arrested the man, who is aged in his 50s, at the scene.
