Man arrested after armed standoff in Waterford

The man appeared to be armed, according to local reports.

ONE MAN REMAINS in custody this morning following a standoff with armed officers yesterday evening.

Gardaí were called to the scene at Penrose Lane in the Glen area of Waterford city at around 5.30pm yesterday. Local reports indicated that the man appeared to be armed and was standing on the roof of an apartment building.

The man was arrested at the scene at around 11.30pm, according to WLRFM. The area was cordoned off throughout the incident.

No injuries are reported.
