Man arrested after attempted armed robbery at Arklow post office

The 25-year-old was arrested near Ashford yesterday evening.

A 25-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested following the attempted armed robbery of a Co Wicklow post office yesterday.

A man entered the post office in Arklow shortly after 2pm yesterday armed with what appeared to be a gun. He left the premises without taking anything and escaped from the scene in a blue car.

No one was injured in the incident.

At around 8.40pm yesterday, gardaí arrested a man in connection with the attempted robbery near Ashford, Co Wicklow.

He is currently being held at Wicklow Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.
