Man arrested in Bristol in connection with human remains found in suitcases

The Metropolitan Police said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident at this stage.

A MAN HAS been arrested after human remains were found in two suitcases in Bristol and a flat in west London.

The manhunt began after Avon and Somerset Police discovered the remains on Thursday morning near Clifton Suspension Bridge.

More human remains were found at an address in Shepherd’s Bush in west London yesterday.

Police believe there are still two male victims, although formal identification is yet to take place.

The Metropolitan Police have said a 24-year-old man was arrested in the Bristol area in the early hours of this morning.

The man was detained by Avon and Somerset armed officers and was taken into custody, where he remains. He will be taken to London for questioning later today.

The police force said that while extensive enquiries are ongoing, they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident at this stage.

A 36-year-old man who was arrested in Greenwich on Friday in connection with the investigation has since been released without charge.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Valentine said: “This is a significant development in our investigation and I would like to thank the public for their support.

“We understand the concerns of local communities in both Bristol and London and officers will remain in the Clifton and Shepherd’s Bush areas over the coming days to reassure those affected by this tragic incident.”

“Anyone with any concerns is encouraged to speak with them.”
