Man arrested following armed robbery at Dublin off-licence

A second man is still being sought by Gardaí.

A 30-YEAR-old man has been arrested following an armed robbery at an off-licence on Ninth Lock Road, Clondalkin, at around 9.25pm last night.

While on patrol, two gardaí saw two men jump from a car and enter the off-licence premises. The two men, believed to have been armed with a firearm, threatened staff and took cash from the till. Gardaí called for assistance and entered the premises. One of the males pointed what turned out to be an imitation firearm at both Gardaí and attempted to escape. A struggle ensued and one culprit was apprehended at the scene. The imitation firearm was recovered along with a screwdriver and the stolen cash.

One garda member was injured, not seriously, and remained on duty and the apprehended man was detained and removed to Tallaght Hospital.

The second man is still being sought.

The man has been discharged from hospital and is now currently detained at Clondalkin Garda Station under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act, 1939.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
