Man arrested following garda pursuit in Co Wicklow

An appeal had earlier been issued for the man and three young children who were last seen in a blue Nissan Almera in Ashford, Co Wicklow this morning.

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED a man after they had earlier issued an appeal for him and three young children who had last been seen in Ashford, Co Wicklow this morning.

The man was last seen this morning with the three young children driving a blue Nissan Almera at around 10.30am near the Woodview Estate area.

Gardaí issuing an urgent appeal for information on their location. The car and occupants were subsequently located this lunchtime in the Rathnew area following a short pursuit.

RTÉ’s crime correspondent Paul Reynolds reported that the driver of the car had crashed into a ditch but that no one was hurt in the incident.

The three children were found safely and the man was arrested and taken to Wicklow Garda Station.
