Man arrested in Antrim over Danny McKay murder

Two other men remain in custody in connection with the murder of the 36-year-old.

DETECTIVES FROM THE PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch investigating the murder of Danny McKay on Thursday 25 October have arrested a 28-year-old man.

The man has been taken to Antrim Serious Crime Suite for questioning.

Two men aged 41 and 50 who were arrested on Saturday 27 October remain in custody.

Danny McKay, 36, died after being shot six times in his home in the Longlands area of Netownabbey. DCI John McVea told the BBC the attack was “brutal and ruthless,” adding: “He was known to police, but not particularly well-known. Whatever Daniel may have done in his life, nothing merits this”.

Police have re-issued an appeal for anyone who saw a silver-coloured Volkswagen Bora with registration number KLZ 9787 on Thursday 25 October in the Belfast or Newtownabbey areas to contact them. Detectives are also keen to speak with anyone who may have seen a dark-coloured saloon car being driven in a suspicious manner in the Longlands area of Newtownabbey in the days leading up to Mr McKay’s murder.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact detectives at North Queen Street on 0845 600 8000. If anyone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity crime stoppers and speak anonymously on 0800 555 111.
