Man arrested in connection with murder of Deirdre McCarthy

GARDAÍ HAVE CONFIRMED they have arrested a man in connection with the murder of Deirdre McCarthy whose body was found on a beach in Co Clare last week.

The 43-year-old woman went missing on Sunday, 27 March but her body was discovered on Fanore beach in Co Clare last Thursday morning.

Gardaí said that McCarthy died in violent and suspicious circumstances with a post mortem indicating she had been beaten.

A man, in his late 30s, is being held at Ennis Garda station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
