Man arrested in connection with fatal assault at residence in Co Kildare

A man in his 30s was was pronounced dead at the scene.

A MAN HAS been arrested in connection with a fatal assault  of another man in Co Kildare.

The incident took place at a house in Sallins in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted shortly after 3:15am.

Upon arrival, a man in his 30s was discovered with fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.

A man in his early 20s was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda Station in County Kildare.

The body of the deceased remains remain at the scene, which has been preserved for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.

The local Coroner and office of the State Pathologist have been informed, and preparations are underway for a post-mortem examination.

A senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the inquiry, and an incident room has been established at Naas Garda Station. 

A Garda Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has been assigned to keep the deceased’s family informed of developments.

Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
