Man arrested over sexual assault on woman with special needs

The victim was accosted and brought to a house on Wednesday, 12 June.

EARLIER TODAY GARDAÍ said that a man has been arrested in connection with a serious sexual assault on a woman with special needs in Dublin last week.

The 31-year-old was detained in the city centre this morning and is currently being questioned at Kevin Street garda station.

CCTV footage was used to identify the suspect who approached the female victim as she walked along the South Circular Road towards Harrington Street between 4pm and 4.15pm on Wednesday, 12 June.

The pair then walked in the direction of the Victoria Street / Lennox Street area and it is believed that they both entered a dwelling somewhere in the general area of the South Circular Road/ South Richmond Street / Portobello area. The assault took place in this building.

The male was described by a witness as being dark skinned with black hair and of a medium height.

Investigations continue.
