Man charged after man found stabbed and burned in Offaly house fire

A 24-year-old man was found with a number of stab wounds and extensive burn injuries when gardaí were called to a house fire in September.

A MAN IS due in court this afternoon, charged in connection with a house fire and assault in Co Offaly in September.

A 24-year-old man was found with a number of stab wounds and extensive burn injuries when gardaí were called to the blaze at Cloncur, Rhode on September 7.

The incident was reported by a passer-by and it’s understood that the man almost died following the incident.

Two men, aged 17 and 27, were arrested in connection with the investigation yesterday morning.

Earlier today, the 17 year old was released without charge.

It appears the premises which went on fire may have been used to breed dogs.

After the incident, a number of dogs were taken from kennels and away from the scene by the county dog warden.
