Man assaulted and locked in his bathroom while three men burgled his house

A man has been arrested and some property has been recovered.

A MAN WAS assaulted while alone in his house in Longford yesterday afternoon.

Three men entered a house on Chapel Lane, Edgeworthtown and assaulted the man before locking him in the toilet and stealing property.

The injured man managed to release himself and call the gardaí.

He was then brought to the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar where he was treated for minor injuries.

Gardaí have since arrested a 44-year-old man in the Edgeworthstown area in connection with the aggravated burglary and some property has been recovered.

He’s currently being held at Granard Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
