Man found to be carrying improvised gun after he was arrested for drink driving

The man is currently detained at Ballyfermot Garda Station.

AN IMPROVISED GUN was found on a man yesterday after he had been arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

Gardaí attended the scene of a minor crash close to Junction 7 on the M50 yesterday morning and arrested the driver of one of the vehicles.

The 42-year-old was taken to Ballyfermot Garda Station.

However, during a search of the man, gardaí also discovered an improvised firearm and ammunition.

A spokesperson declined to provide a description of the weapon.

The man is still being detained at Balleyfermot, and investigations are ongoing.
